Description
The 'Crème Chantilly' Rose, highly acclaimed in numerous rose competitions, is a small bush with a rustic charm that blooms continuously, and with exceptional generosity, from late spring to the first frost. Its white flowers, in double and casual corollas, open in generous bouquets on a smooth green foliage that remains decorative throughout the season. With exceptional disease resistance and reliability, it is also a versatile variety that can be used in gardens or in pots. Definitely worth discovering!
The 'Crème Chantilly' Rose is a very recent creation developed by Meilland in partnership with American breeder Bill Radler, the father of the famous Knock Out groundcover rose. This variety already has an impressive record: Gold Medal, Most Remarkable Rose Award, and Saint Feliu de Llobregat Pedro Dot Barcelone Award (Spain) 2013, Gold Medal Saverne 2013, Silver Medal Rome (Italy) 2013, Silver Medal Geneva 2013. Certificate of Merit Baden B. Wien (Austria) 2014, Silver Medal Monaco 2014, Gold Medal Rose Hills (USA) 2014, Grand Prix SNHF (French National Horticultural Society) 2014. This 'Crème Chantilly' rose forms, in a few years, a dense, compact, regular bush with slender but strong thorny stems, averaging 50 cm (20in) in height and 45 cm (18in) in width. Highly branched, it bears foliage divided into matte green leaflets, unaffected by diseases. This deciduous foliage falls in autumn. The flowering is renewed from May-June until October-November. The 7 cm (3in) wide corollas are double, gathered in bouquets of 3 to more than 15, each consisting of about forty petals. The tightly closed buds open into flat white cups delicately washed with cream, then fade to pure white. The flowering of this rose is not fragrant, but it withstands rain very well.
Floribunda roses allow for beautiful small hedges, planted mixed at the edge of the terrace or in small shrub beds. Combine them with groundcover roses, abelias, nandinas, or caryopteris for example. They are good companions for foxgloves and tall baby's breath. The modest size, generosity, and resistance of 'Crème Chantilly' make it an interesting variety for all gardens, even small ones and container gardening. Its use is versatile, according to the preferences of each gardener: in a rose bed, accompanied by white varieties ('Marie Pavie', 'Swanny'), pink or mauve varieties ('Blue Boy', 'Rhapsody in Blue'). Like all roses, it looks great mixed with easy-care perennials such as perennial geraniums, catmints, or asters. And its roses are lovely in small bouquets or centrepieces, with double clematis flowers for example.

Planting and care
Plant the 'Crème Chantilly' rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-worked and well-drained soil. Roses prefer clayey soils rather than light soils. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to incorporate compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose fears waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, or at the most in partial shade. Roses are hungry plants, so a specific fertiliser will be beneficial at the start of the growing season, and regularly throughout the flowering period. To encourage new blooms, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and more floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, prune the stems by about one quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush can fill out and the branches do not become tangled in the middle of the branches.
