Thanks to the people (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received looks healthy. Planted near the "Bring Me Sunshine" variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?).

Description

The 'Coral Lions-Rose' Bush, introduced by German rose breeder Kordes in 2019, is a particularly floriferous and disease-resistant bush rose. In addition to these qualities, it boasts an attractive apricot-pink colour and a delicate fragrance. This vigorous upright bush produces large clusters of medium-sized double flowers from summer until the first frost. It is a charming, generous and easy-to-grow rose, perfect for showcasing in the garden or on the balcony.

The 'Coral Lions-Rose' Floribunda Rose is part of a collection of roses called Fantasia. This variety has won several international awards: in 2019, the first prize in Lyon, the gold medal in Roeulx and the title of the most beautiful rose voted by the public; in 2020, the gold medal at the Kortrijk competition, the gold medal in Warsaw and the people's choice award. In 2020, it received the ADR label. The plant forms a compact bush with thorny stems, reaching a height of 80 cm (32in) and a spread of 50 cm (20in), adorned with very healthy dark green foliage. Its flowering is abundant from June to October, as long as the soil doesn't dry out too much in summer. Its wide 7-8 cm (3in) corollas are double and reminiscent of old-fashioned teacups, gathered in bouquets. Their changing colour is a mix of orange, golden apricot, pink, and salmon tones. Their fragrance is moderately pronounced.

As announced by the Kordes company, "the vibrant colours of the Fantasia roses are like fireworks. The colourful flowers display very unique shades, as if the colour had been sprayed or brushed on. These effects, combined with compact growth, create a work of art in your garden. The bedding or hybrid tea roses from the Fantasia collection literally attract attention."

Floribunda roses allow for beautiful small hedges, mixed planting along the edge of a terrace or in small shrub beds. Pair them with ground cover roses, abelias, nandinas, or caryopteris, for example. They are great companions for foxgloves and tall baby's breath. The vigour, generosity and resistance of 'Coral Lions-Rose' make it an interesting variety for all gardens, even small ones and for container gardening. Its uses are varied, depending on the desires of each gardener: in a rose bed, alongside white varieties ('Marie Pavie', 'Swanny') or mauve varieties ('Blue Boy', 'Rhapsody in Blue'). Like all roses, it looks stunning mixed with easy-to-grow perennials such as geraniums, catmints, or asters. And its roses are lovely in small bouquets or centerpieces, paired with blue or white clematis flowers, for example.

Planting and care

Plant this floribunda rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened and free-draining soil. Roses prefer clayey soils, rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to bury compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dreads waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, a specific rose fertiliser application will be beneficial when the foliage emerges, then regularly during the entire flowering period. To encourage reblooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, the stems should be pruned to about a quarter of their length (4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush thickens and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the shrub.
