Rosa x floribunda Park Abbey Rose - Floribunda Rose

The 'Park Abbey Rose' Bush stands out with its unique pink-orange colour, rich in ochre, cream, and coral reflections. Its large double flowers, shaped in an old-fashioned style, are also highly fragrant and resistant to rain. They bloom in small clusters from June to October on an upright bush adorned with foliage that is also quite unusual, with dark green colour and hints of greyish-blue. It is a highly floriferous modern rose, truly captivating, and stunning in borders, groups, or as a low hedge. And its flowers are delightful in bouquets.

The 'Park Abbey Rose' is a recent creation by Lens Roses dating back to 2021. This cultivar received the Certificate of Merit in Le Roeulx in 2020. It belongs to the floribuda roses category, which produce flowers grouped in clusters. It forms, in a few years, a bush with an upright habit and prickly stems, reaching an average height of 1.35m (4ft) and a width of 70-80cm (28-32in). Its foliage is divided into broad, finely toothed leaflets, slightly glossy, dark green with greyish-blue nuances. This deciduous foliage falls in autumn. The flowering period extends from June to October-November, provided the soil does not dry out too much in summer. The wide corollas, measuring 8cm (3in), are fully double and gathered in clusters of 3 to 7. The tight buds open in organised cup shapes divided into quarters. Their pink-orange colour is quite difficult to describe, rich in nuances, and never before observed in a rose according to Lens Roses. The flowers have a floral scent, ranging from moderate to strong depending on temperature and time of day.

Floribunda roses allow for the creation of beautiful small hedges when planted mixed along the terrace or in small shrub borders. Combine them with ground cover roses, abelias, nandinas, or caryopteris, for example. They make good companions for foxgloves and tall baby's breath. The 'Park Abbey Rose' can be used in various ways, according to each gardener's preferences: in a rose bed, paired with white varieties ('Marie Pavie', 'Swanny') or mauve varieties ('Blue Boy', 'Rhapsody in Blue'). Like all roses, it looks stunning when mixed with easy-care perennials such as perennial geraniums, catmints, or asters. Consider also pairing it with a herbaceous clematis in white, blue, or mauve. And its roses hold up well in a vase.
