Thank you to the team (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received looks healthy. Planted in the ground, close to the "Mozart" variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to thrive... or not?

Description

The 'Quinte Flush' Rose is a modern bush with clustered flowers that does not go unnoticed: each of its small semi-double flowers gradually changes from straw yellow at the bud stage to cherry red at full bloom, creating multicoloured bouquets that blend all intermediate shades. It is also a vigorous and constantly reblooming variety, adorned with a very healthy glossy green foliage. It is very difficult to resist the unique charm of this plant, whose flowering is a winning combination that brightens up any decor for months!

The Quinte Flush Rose was obtained by the rose breeder Orard. The plant forms in a few years a vigorous upright bush, with thorny stems, 90 cm (35in) to 1 m (3ft) in height and 60-70 cm (24-28in) in width, adorned with very healthy foliage, composed of large dark green dentate leaflets. Its flowering is aways reblooming, starting in May-June depending on the region, renewing in the heart of summer if the soil remains moist, and ending in October. Its corollas are semi-double (10-12 petals), 5 cm (2in) wide, gathered in bouquets of 10 to 12 flowers. The tightly closed buds open into well-opened cups with a nest of golden yellow stamens. Over time, their colour evolves from light yellow to light salmon, pink, and then bright red. This variety has no fragrance. The deciduous foliage falls in autumn.

Clustered roses allow for beautiful small hedges, planted mixed at the edge of the terrace or in small shrub beds. Associate them with Japanese spireas, dwarf weigelas, caryopteris, and peonies, for example. They are good companions for paniculate phlox and tall baby's breath. This 'Quinte Flush' variety finds its place in all gardens, even small ones, or in a large pot to adorn the balcony or terrace. Its uses are diverse, according to each gardener's desires: in a rose bed, planted in groups of 3 to 5 plants, or in a large border. It pairs well with light and easy-to-grow plants such as perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', 'Anne Folkard', 'Nimbus', 'Orion'), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, love-in-a-mist, foxgloves, phlox etc. Its flowers can be used to create elegant bouquets. It always makes a successful pairing with a yellow or white rose.

Planting and care

Plant the 'Quinte Flush' rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened and free-draining soil. Roses prefer clayey soils, rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to bury compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dreads waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, a specific rose fertiliser application will be beneficial when the foliage emerges, then regularly during the entire flowering period.

To encourage re-blooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, the stems should be pruned to about a quarter of their length (4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush thickens and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the shrub.
