Rosa x floribunda Rochemenier Village - Floribunda Rose

The Bush Rose 'Rochemenier Village', particularly floriferous, provides a radiant and continuous flowering from late spring to late in the season. This vigorous and sturdy bush, whose beautifully curved roses come in different shades of apricot, peach, orange, and pink, pays tribute in the most beautiful way to the troglodyte village located near Doué-la-Fontaine. Subtly fragrant, these flowers evolve throughout the day but are exquisite at all stages of their blooming, and perfectly highlighted by a very healthy foliage, of a beautiful dark green. An excellent variety in every way! 

The Bush Rose 'Rochemenier Village', is a creation by Gareth Fryer (UK), dating back to 1998.This vigorous variety quickly forms a compact bush with thorny stems about 70-80 cm (28-32in) tall and 60-70 cm (24-28in) in diameter. It is covered with abundant deciduous foliage, very healthy, divided into large leaflets, of a beautiful satin dark green. Its flowering is particularly recurrent, almost uninterrupted from May to October-November. Its corollas, of a good size for a floribunda rose, measure 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4in) in diameter. Composed of 17 to 25 petals, they are beautifully turbinate when they bloom, then open in a more informal way. They are arranged in clusters of 3 to 5 flowers on the current year's stems. The flowers, ranging from pink to orange towards the centre, fade as they ripen, revealing soft shades of peach, apricot, and tender pink. The petals are sometimes finely edged in a deep pink when fully open. Their fragrance is of medium to moderate intensity, rather fruity.

Floribunda roses allow for the creation of beautiful small hedges, planted mixed at the edge of the terrace or in small shrub beds. Combine them with dwarf abelias, deutzia, or caryopteris for example. They are good companions for peonies, panicle phlox, and tall gypsophila. The modest size and resistance of 'Rochemenier Village' as well as its floribundity make it an interesting variety for all gardens, even small ones, as well as for cultivation in large pots. Its use is versatile, according to the desires of each gardener: in a rose bed, in the company of white varieties ('Marie Pavie', 'Swanny'), or orange ones ('Danaë', 'Lady of Shalott'), or mixed with easy-to-grow perennials such as perennial geraniums, small-flowered carnations, or blue asters. And its roses are exquisite in bouquets.
