Rosa Jacqueline du Pré - Hybrid Tea

The delicate flowers of Rosa 'Jacqueline du Pré' are elegant, with a charming and unique allure. Their colour is a pale white shaded with pink at the centre, and their shape is a wide semi-double cup, almost single. They open up to reveal a pale pink heart animated by long reddish stamens that give them their uniqueness. Assembled in large bouquets, they continuously bloom on a bushy shrub dressed in healthy, dark, and glossy foliage. Not only are these roses beautiful, but they also emit a pleasant musky fragrance. Of medium size, it is well-suited for the back of perennial borders and will easily blend into a flowering hedge. 

'Jacqueline du Pré' is a modern shrub rose related to Scottish roses (Rosa pimpinellifolia var. spinosissima). This upright shrub reaches a height of 1.2m (3 to 4ft) to 1.4m (3 to 4 ft), with a rapid growth and a spread of 80cm (31.5in) to 1m (3 to 4ft). It produces slightly frail but graceful branches, carrying elegant dark green and shiny foliage, sometimes not very dense; for a mass effect, it is preferable to plant it in groups of three plants. From June until frost, if faded flowers are removed, the compound flowers with 8 to 15 petals, measuring 10cm (3.9in) in diameter, emerge from pink buds, gradually opening up into wide open beautiful roses with undulated petals, revealing a pink and golden heart that can be seen from afar. They are grouped in large bouquets.

This rose 'Jacqueline du Pré'® forms a slender and tall bush of medium size, ideal for planting as a small hedge or in groups of three plants. It blends well in borders with summer or autumn flowering shrubs, or mixed with light perennials and annuals such as paniculate baby's breath, paniculate phlox, or tall foxgloves. It can be showcased in front of a boxwood or yew hedge, or, on the contrary, surrounded by a miniature hedge or a carefully organized labyrinth, as in Italian or French gardens. It is also and above all a unique and touching rose that can be paired, for example, with a double-flowered clematis (Clematis viticella 'Purpurea Plena Elegans') that can be placed near the house to also enjoy its fragrance.
