I can't say much about it at the moment: the young plant is very small, so I'm waiting for the shoot to grow...

Description

Buddleia davidii Butterfly Dream® White ('Minpap2'), also known as Buddleja davidii Rêve de Papillon White ('Minpap2'), is a recent variety distinguished by its flowering in huge panicles, 20 cm to 30 cm (7.9 in to 11.8 in) long, with white flowers that are slightly fragrant and honey-scented, blooming regularly from July to September! Unlike the species, this cultivar has an exceptionally dense, compact, rounded habit, with little bareness from the base, making it easy to use as a border or standalone plant. Its initially upright branches arch under the weight of the inflorescences. Its grey-green, almost silver, lanceolate foliage perfectly complements the light colours of its flowers. Versatile, drought-resistant, and tolerant of various soil conditions, it is suitable even for pots or small gardens.

The Butterfly Dream series of buddleias was developed by Minier nurseries in the 2000s and includes hybrids resulting from cross-breeding with B. 'Lochinch', which are particularly compact, vigorous, and floriferous varieties. Buddleia davidii Butterfly Dream® White ('Minpap2'), introduced in 2007, is a variant with white flowers. Like all butterfly bushes, it belongs to the Scrophulariaceae family.

Buddleia davidii Butterfly Dream® White will not exceed 1.5 m (4.9 ft) in all directions. This variety develops a compact and dense vegetation from the base, with short branches that quickly form a densely leafy dome. The foliage is semi-evergreen, remaining on the branches throughout the winter in mild climates but deciduous in colder regions. It consists of slightly villous elliptical leaves measuring approximately 8 cm to 10 cm (3.1 in to 3.9 in) long and 3 cm to 4 cm (1.2 in to 1.6 in) wide, in a beautiful grey-green, almost silver colour that enhances the flowers. The plant flowers from July to September, for 3 months. Emerging from the foliage are panicles of flowers, 30 cm to 40 cm (11.8 in to 15.7 in) long. These flowers are white with a yellow throat and release a light honey scent that is highly sought after by pollinators. They fade discreetly and do not require pruning. This very hardy bush does not suffer from occasional drought in deep soil. When grown in pots, it will require regular watering and some fertiliser to support its growth and flowering.

Buddleia davidii Butterfly Dream® White is a small bush that easily finds its place in the garden, even in limited space. It is perfect in a large pot on a terrace. It integrates easily at the front of a perennial or shrub border and looks good along a pathway. Its combination with ground cover roses, dwarf abelias, pink coneflowers, and asters is interesting for animating borders until the end of summer.

Planting and care

It is easy to grow, as it is a low-maintenance plant, hardy and not very water-demanding. It thrives in sunny locations, but also flowers in partial shade. Plant it in spring or early autumn, in any type of soil, even poor and limestone, but well-prepared, well-tilled and properly drained. Once well-established in the ground, the plant can tolerate periods of moderate drought. However, if grown in a pot or container, make sure to water it regularly and provide fertilisers for flowering bushes. The buddleia has no significant enemies. However, beware of caterpillars, weevils, bugs and red spider mites that can invade it under certain conditions. Pruning vigorously after flowering and/or in early spring keeps the habit compact and encourages the bush to produce numerous flowers.
