My magnolia was delivered in good condition. However, it froze at -3.3° a few days ago and the young leaf shoots didn't like it at all. I thought it could withstand the frost. Today, 22/05/2025, my magnolia is simply 2 small trunks without any bud! Very disappointed considering the price I paid.

Description
The Magnolia x denudata 'Iolanthe' is a sumptuous variety that comes from New Zealand. It is a small tree that produces some of the largest and most beautiful flowers that can be found among magnolias: enormous rose lilac cups with a lighter center. They bloom in abundance in spring before the leaves appear. With slow growth and a modest stature, this magnolia is well suited for small gardens and cultivation in large pots. It will thrive in full sun or partial shade in a rich, moist, well-drained, and slightly acidic soil.
This Magnolia Iolanthe, belonging to the magnolia family, is a recent cultivar derived from the Magnolia denudata native to central and eastern China. It is a bush with an upright and rounded habit that reaches about 1.80m (6ft) in height and 1.50m (5ft) in width at the age of 10 years. The abundant flowering occurs from April to May. It takes the form of very large flowers, measuring 25 to 35cm (10 to 14in) in diameter when fully open. Each flower is composed of wide petals bordered with rose lilac around a paler center washed with pink and cream.
This Magnolia Iolanthe is hardy as it can withstand temperatures around -15°C (5°F), but it is advisable to choose its location carefully to protect the flower buds from spring frosts. A prized subject for the garden, this magnolia deserves to be placed in isolation in the middle of a short grass meadow where its remarkable flowering will be admired by all. It can also be integrated into a bed of bushes for ericaceous soil (Rhododendrons, Camellias, Hydrangeas), in a Japanese-style setting. It is also possible to create sumptuous flowering hedges along pathways, alternating this cultivar with other magnolias (Magnolia grandiflora, M. soulangeana, M. liliflora, etc.).

The Iolanthe magnolia prefers sheltered positions, sunny to semi-shaded exposures, a moist, well-drained, rich, neutral or acidic soil. It dislikes overly dry soils, limestone, windy locations, or root competition, as its root system is shallow. It is hardy (down to -15°C (5°F)), but it is advisable to protect young specimens from frost during the first years following planting. Note that late frosts and cold winds can damage flower buds and young leaves, thus affecting flowering.
Magnolia can be planted in spring or autumn, outside the freezing period, ensuring it is sheltered from cold winds. Prepare a hole measuring 80 cm (32 in) on each side and of equal depth, with a good supply of ericaceous compost and garden soil. Be careful when installing it in the hole, as the roots are fleshy but quite fragile. Immediate watering with lime-free water (rainwater) helps to settle the soil around the roots. During the first year of planting, Magnolia requires watering once a week. It will appreciate an annual mulch in spring. It is recommended to mulch around its base to retain moisture during the hot season, enrich the soil, and protect it from the cold in winter. As its roots are fragile, transplanting should be avoided. The only enemies of Magnolia are pests such as scale insects, snails, and slugs that attack young plants, as well as fungal diseases such as root rot (in overly wet soil), coral disease, and Pestalozzia. Note that magnolias are ornamental trees that tolerate atmospheric pollution well.
