Large root hairs in the pot. I carefully spread out the roots. The viburnum is replacing an old dead plum tree. It's well established, a bit sheltered from the cold winds... we're waiting to see it flower...

Description

Viburnum hillieri 'Winton' is a magnificent ornamental bush with semi-evergreen foliage, brilliant flowering, and intense fruits.

'Winton' is a "must-have" for every gardener.

It has semi-evergreen foliage, which is bronze in spring, dark green in summer, and finally copper-red during winter.

From May to June, it produces an abundance of slightly fragrant ivory-white flowers gathered in a panicle. They are followed by magnificent bright red fruits the size of elongated currants, as decorative as the flowers.

Its habit is compact, with a rounded shape. It forms a 2 to 2.5m (7 to 8ft) high and wide young plant. It can be planted in a bed, a hedge, or as a standalone. Easy to grow, it thrives in both full sun and partial shade, in any type of moist, rich, and light soil. It is hardy and can withstand temperatures down to -12°C (10.4°F), beyond which its foliage will be damaged. In cold regions, plant it sheltered from cold winds.

It is easy to maintain and does not require any specific pruning.
