Black and Silver Mulch Film, 30 microns, 1.40 x 10m (33ft)

This long-length black mulch film (FRESAFILM) is specifically designed for strawberry cultivation. It ensures higher yield with a better quality harvest, prevents weed growth, retains moisture in the soil, and keeps the fruits clean by isolating them from the ground. It also helps reduce the use of chemical products. We provide it in a roll measuring 1.40m (5ft) wide by 20m (66ft) long.

This plastic film is made of polyethylene with a thickness of 30 microns. It is installed before planting, on prepared soil without weeds. It is easy to cut to create openings to accommodate young strawberry plants. It is important to secure the film to the ground, so that the wind cannot get underneath and lift it. Its black colour absorbs the heat from the sun, allowing the soil to warm up faster, thus enabling the plants to root more quickly. The heat generated by the film also accelerates the ripening of the fruits and promotes a good content of sugars and flavours. The soil does not dry out as fast when protected by mulch, which reduces watering and significantly decreases water consumption. This impermeable mulch film prevents weeds by depriving their seeds of light. The developing strawberries will rest on the film rather than the ground, thus protecting them from slugs and splashes of soil. You can install a drip irrigation system, if desired. This material has a lifespan of approximately two years.
