Woodland flower carpet collection - 55 bulbs

An assortment of 55 small bulbs of Corydalis and Siberian Squills, selected for their ability to naturalise in moist woodlands, as well as for the brightness and vivacity of their spring flowering. Once planted in slightly moist soil, they will multiply and faithfully return each year without requiring any maintenance. All are hardy, with flowering occurring from late February to April-May.

This Woodland Flowering Carpet collection consists of:

x 15 Corydalis Solida GP Baker - Bulbous Corydalis: its tube-shaped flowers are red-pink and open on an almost white throat. The lovely foliage of the bulbous corydalis, finely divided, disappears in summer. Vegetation reappears in late winter.

x 15 Corydalis Solida Beth Evans - Solid Bulbous Corydalis: with deep pink flowers touched with purple.

x 25 Scilla siberica Spring Beauty - Siberian Squill: very cold-resistant, this small bulb produces 2 or 3 short flower stalks, each bearing 4 to 5 small pendulous bells of an incredible blue. They often appear from the end of winter, in March. Its medium green, narrow, abundant foliage appears before flowering, in a tuft about 10cm (4in) wide.

The bulbs are packed and labelled separately.

These plants take over from crocuses and Christmas roses, with which they can be mixed in a sunny location. To extend the flowering period of your bed, also consider snowdrops, blanda anemones, and hepaticas, for example. To enjoy autumn flowering, add some Naples cyclamens. Also accompany them with creeping bugleweed or a carpet of small periwinkles, their foliage will adorn the woodland when the bulbous plants are dormant.
