The muscari have bloomed again the following year, unlike the white anemones (we also bought blue anemones which, on the other hand, look stunning in early spring).

Description

This is a collection of 30 small spring-flowering bulbs combining the small white daisy-like flowers with pink reverses of Anemone blanda with the delightful blue spikes circled with white of the muscari. These easy and unpretentious bulbs form low flowering carpets from the first spring days in March-April, faithfully return each year and multiply spontaneously over the years. A fresh touch for borders, rockeries, and containers! Plant in partial shade or in the sun, in ordinary but well-drained soil.

This Collection consists of:

x 15 Anemone blanda White Splendour:  its delicate foliage somewhat resembles parsley, it is dark green, finely cut, and strongly toothed. It appears early in spring, depending on the climate, at the same time as the flowers fade, then disappears in autumn, sometimes in the middle of summer if the soil is dry.

x 15  Muscari armeniacum Dark Eyes: its flowers are initially a perfectly uniform bright cobalt blue. The white ring that encircles each small flower appears late, before fading to a pink tone. The flowers located towards the top of the cluster are slightly lighter blue. The foliage dries up some time after flowering, then disappears.

The plants are individually labelled.

Plant the anemone tubers and muscari bulbs in large groups, along the edge of a lawn, at the base of hedges, or under deciduous bushes that will provide them with light shade in summer. These perfectly hardy plants are easy to grow in moderately moist soils and well-suited to dry soils, even rocky ones, in summer.

Planting and care

Plant your bulbs and tubers as soon as possible in a well-drained soil that does not retain excess water. Loosen the soil deeply, mix in some compost and gravel if your soil is very clayey and heavy. Plant at a depth of 8 cm (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs 6 to 8 cm apart, making sure they do not touch. Choose a sunny or partially shaded exposure. In hot climates, plant in partial shade or at the base of deciduous bushes and trees.
