Description

Tulipa 'Alibi' is a spring bulb. It blooms right after early tulips. From April to May, it produces large pink flowers that are 4 to 6cm (2in) in diameter, perched on sturdy stems that withstand bad weather.

Coming from the cross-breeding between early single tulips and late single tulips, the 'Alibi' triumph tulip reaches a height of 50cm (20in) when mature. Its green foliage is deciduous. It is a hardy herbaceous tulip.

'Alibi' fits perfectly in large flower beds. By combining it with other tulips, you can maximise the flowering duration. It can also be planted in borders, and in pots and containers. This tulip adds beauty to balconies and patios. It is also lovely as a cut flower. It pairs well with 'Blushing Lady' daffodils or 'Sparkling' narcissus. 'Alibi' is attractive to butterflies.

Planting and care

Place 'Alibi' in a sunny or partially shaded spot. Plant from late September to December for spring flowering. Plant the bulbs in well-drained and deeply loosened soil, 15cm (6in) deep. Space the bulbs 10cm (4in) apart, without touching each other, to create a mass effect that will give a more decorative appearance. The bulbs are undemanding. Simply water regularly, especially during dry winters, and cut the flower stems after flowering. Allow the leaves to dry completely before cutting them.
