Tulipa Kadima - Triumph tulip

The 'Kadima' Triumph Tulip is an elegant bicolour variety whose large purplish flower, edged with white, shimmers with bluish-pink highlights. Its colour changes according to the light: cooler in the morning, darker when the sun touches its petals. Plant it in borders or in a large bed. Its strong stems and natural elegance are good for cutting.

Triumph Tulip 'Kadima' belongs to the Liliaceae family. Tulips are bulbous plants native to the Mediterranean basin, Central and Western Asia. This variety is classified in the horticultural group of Triumph tulips and was officially registered in 2014 by Mastenbroek Breeding Rights B.V. and Vriend Cultures B.V. In spring, the plant forms a clump of large, slightly grey-green leaves. Its flower stem is slightly tinged with purplish crimson at the tip. The solitary flower reaches approximately 10cm in length. The outer tepals (or petals) are purplish, edged with white, shaded with bluish pink near the edge and reddish brown along the midrib; their base is greyish. Inside, the bluish-pink corolla shows a white edge and a pale yellow base. This variety reaches 45cm in height. The foliage turns yellow after flowering before disappearing: the foliage is deciduous, and the bulb has a summer dormancy period. This hardy variety withstands ordinary winters and fairly dry summers.

This 'Kadima' tulip is very attractive in spring borders, flower beds and floral displays. This variety pairs well with other Triumph tulips such as ‘Continental’, dark and velvety, or ‘Blue Ribbon’, a purplish pink. To soften the overall effect, you can plant small groups of forget-me-nots, which will highlight its colour without stealing the show.
