Description

The Tulip Triumph 'Salmon Dynasty' is distinguished by the solar beauty of its colour, as well as the excellent durability of its flower, both in a vase and in a bed. Its classic corolla, which opens like a star, reveals a cream-yellow background, adorned with shades of pastel pink and salmon that blush more or less over time. This flower is carried by a thick and sturdy stem that withstands bad weather and allows for beautiful bouquets. Planted en masse, this radiant tulip brings a touch of cheerfulness to any setting, even if the weather is grey. It blooms in the middle of the tulip season, in late April, depending on the climate.

The 'Salmon Dynasty' Tulip belongs to the Lily family. Originally from horticulture, introduced in 2006 in the Netherlands, it is currently classified in the 'Triumph' group, whose main characteristic is to have flowers in a narrow cup shape. Its flowers are perched on rigid stems that are 45cm (18in) tall, above the widely lanceolate green-blue leaves. Their rich, soft and warm colour easily harmonizes with a wide range of plants in beds. They have six "petals" (more precisely tepals) of thick and slightly silky substance that slightly curl at the edges when fully open. The foliage turns yellow and then dries some time after flowering, while the bulb goes into dormancy.

The 'Salmon Dynasty' Triumph Tulip looks marvelous planted in large groups in sunny beds or borders. Its incredibly bright colour, which can stand on its own in a vase, also allows for beautiful combinations with tulips in white, pink, orange, mauve, black, or red tones. It will also be well complemented by blue flowers (Forget-me-nots, Grape Hyacinths, Bluebells, Hyacinths). This also maximizes the duration of flowering in beds. Pair it with white daffodils, lady's mantle, or Hellebores and Euphorbias for stunning scenes. It pairs perfectly with tall perennials and is ideal for creating elegant bouquets. In a vase, use very little water, just a bottom is enough! Additionally, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase each day.

Planting and care

Plant 'Salmon Dynasty' tulip bulbs in the autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15cm (6in), spacing them 10cm (4in) apart. The planting should be done in ordinary soil, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-drained. Never add manure or poorly decomposed compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. Tulips will grow well in moist to dry soil in summer. Plant them in a sunny or partially shaded location. After flowering, it is advisable to remove the fruits to prevent the plant from becoming exhausted.
