Planting and care

Plant your tulips as soon as possible in well-drained soil that has been deeply worked. Plant bulbs at a depth of 15 cm (6in) (bulbs should be covered with soil to a depth twice their height). Space the bulbs a few cm apart, making sure they do not touch each other. Choose a sunny exposure for better flowering. After flowering, cut back the flower stems but let the leaves dry completely before removing them. After flowering, their foliage becomes unsightly: we recommend planting Heucheras, Tiarelles, Brunneras, Bleeding Hearts, or Euphorbia Cyparissias at the forefront of your flowerbeds. Their foliage will enhance the colours of your tulips, and over the season they will elegantly conceal their yellowed leaves.
