Description

Cephalophora aromatica Pineapples is an annual plant that is still relatively unknown but very unique: its globular, lemon-yellow flowers are accompanied by delicious scents of apple and pineapple.

Cephalophora aromatica Pineapples is an annual herbaceous plant from the Asteraceae family and native to South America. It is unlike any other plant in a scented garden. Its floral buds reach a height of 50 cm (19.7 in) and form globular lemon-yellow inflorescences composed of numerous tubular florets that, with their bumpy appearance, somewhat resemble a golf ball with a diameter of 4 to 5 cm (1.6 to 2 in).

A gentle touch of the absinthe-green leaves, stems, or flowers releases a scent of apple and pineapple into the surrounding area. Along with its delicious aroma, this plant also brings a sense of freshness to the garden with its citrus colours. Its essence can be fully appreciated from July to September in mixed borders, containers, or rock gardens. When they dry out, the flower balls turn golden-yellow before dispersing their seeds with the wind.
