Amaranthus caudatus, commonly known as Love-Lies-Bleeding or Foxtail Amaranth, is an annual plant that belongs to the Amaranthaceae family. “Amaranthus” is the Greek word for "unfading" as flowers and leaves hold their colour remarkably well. It is native to South America, although some varieties originate from Australia and Eurasia. 'Red Cascade' bears drooping scarlet flower tassels which can measure up to 40 cm in length. The upright, well-branched plants can grow to over a metre tall. The matt green foliage has distinct veining and often shows purple tints. Both leaves and seeds are edible and highly nutritious.

Love-Lies-Bleeding is a spectacular plant that bring a dramatic, extravagant note to arrangements and flower beds. It looks sensational when planted in groups.
