In Latin, the term Cynoglossum means dog's tongue, referring to the lanceolate and rough shape of its leaves. The variety 'Firmament' is a biennial plant, usually grown as an annual. It develops lanceolate and veined foliage rosettes, covered with stiff hairs, a somewhat dull green colour. From May to August, hairy stems emerge, branching in their upper part and reaching at least 50 cm in height. They bear inflorescences in terminal racemes, grouping numerous small flowers with 5 intense blue petals, closely resembling woodland forget-me-nots. The Chinese Forget-me-not self-seeds abundantly in the garden.
