The Delphinium or Larkspur Kingsize Scarlet is a new variety with red flowers, undoubtedly the best in its category. This tall plant produces a profusion of large spikes covered with bright pink to scarlet flowers in the year of sowing. These flowers are fabulous in bouquets and will make a stunning backdrop for perennial plants. Easy to grow, it can be sown directly in the ground, in flowerbeds or borders, in rich and moist soil, in full sun.
The Delphinium Kingsize Scarlet is one of the many hybrids obtained by cross-breeding D. elatum and D. grandiflorum, which gave rise to the famous "Pacific Giant" series. It is a hardy annual plant with rapid growth, forming a wide clump of 34 to 40 cm (13.4 - 15.7 in) in diameter, with deeply divided palmate foliage in tender green, from which emerge floral stems of at least 120 cm (47.2 in) in height in summer. The flowering period lasts from June to September, and the flowers are highly attractive to pollinating insects. The flowers resemble those of large-flowered clematis, they are single, cup-shaped, arranged on tall upright spikes, and display uniformly bright red to pink petals. The plant develops from a woody rootstock that grows vertically into the soil.
The characteristic silhouette of Delphiniums always adds grandeur, verticality, and charm to perennial plant beds. The 'Kingsize Scarlet' selection allows for the quick creation of a theatrical yet elegant display by sowing directly in the ground. Delphiniums are also good companions for moss or gallica roses, creating charming and romantic compositions. Another beautiful combination can be made with blue Delphiniums and the baby's breath Rosenschleier. This variety is well-suited for creating bouquets, as its flowers are particularly long-lasting in a vase.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
