Tagetes patula nana Tangerine

Originally from South America, the dwarf Tangerine Marigold thrives in sunny or semi-shaded locations in any type of soil, even poor and dry. It tolerates summer drought very well.

Also known by its Latin name: Tagetes patula nana Tangerine, it is an annual herbaceous plant forming a small, highly branched bush that reaches 25 cm (9.8 in) in height and 30 cm (11.8 in) in width, producing numerous double flowers from May to the first frost.

A highly appreciated flowering plant for its vibrant color: the numerous angular stems bear orange, pompom-shaped flowers at their tips from May to the first frost. The flower measures 4 to 5 cm (1.6 - 2 in) in diameter. The Marigold pairs very well with perennial plantings, bringing the strength of its colors to them.
As with the majority of Tagetes species, the 4 to 10 cm (1.6 - 3.9 in) long leaves are deeply cut and emit a slight citrus and pepper scent.

This "French Marigold", a very easy plant to grow, is particularly appreciated in flower beds, low borders, rockeries, or in pots on the terrace.

In the vegetable garden, Marigolds are beneficial in the fight against nematodes, microscopic worms that attack the roots of certain vegetables such as carrots. Surround your vulnerable vegetables with a row of these flowers to naturally repel these parasites. After the first frost, bury the plants in the soil. They will continue to have a repellent effect against nematodes for some time and will also contribute to the renewal of organic matter in your soil.
