3 Fireworks star geranium collection

A collection of 3 Star Geranium 'Fireworks' from the 'Stellar' section, which are original and new. First, there is 'Scarlet' with small firework red stars, then 'Red White' in scarlet red touched with white, and finally 'Pink', with its small fresh pink stars touched with white. These varieties have a compact and upright habit, adorned with a fan-shaped, deeply cut foliage, which revisits the traditional Zonal Pelargonium. They allow you to create a vibrant and elegant display in flower pots and containers, from summer until the first frosts.

The Pelargoniums in the zonal group are perennial hybrids of the Geraniaceae family, in a wide group called Pelargonium x hortorum. They are mostly the result of cross-breeding several Pelargoniums native to the southeastern tip of Africa.

The Fireworks Geraniums are part of a group of hybrids selected in Australia for their star-shaped flowers, made up of thin and pointed petals with a serrated edge. They are also distinguished by their highly lobed and star-shaped foliage, resembling that of maples, zonal, often variegated, sometimes tricolored. They form an upright clump with a fairly compact habit, reaching a height of 35-40 cm (14-16in) and a spread of 50 cm (20in). They bloom from spring to autumn, displaying elongated and somewhat loose clusters of small, single flowers.

In the 'Scarlet' variety, the flowers are a bright red and are highlighted by a vivid green foliage, with each leaf adorned with a large, very dark to blackish green halo. The flowers of 'Red White' are an intense red touched with white, set against a vibrant green foliage marbled with dull brown. 'Pink' offers pink flowers punctuated with white and a vibrant green foliage widely marbled with dark green.

The sturdy and succulent stems of these geraniums bear generally circular, undulate leaves with a thick texture and a fragrance. Growing Stellar geraniums requires some attention: well-drained soil to prevent collar rot and regular removal of faded flowers.

Once reserved for balconies and terraces, Pelargoniums are making a very noticeable entrance into sunny beds and borders. Plant them in mass to create a lasting and cheerful display throughout the summer. These plants tolerate drought quite well, allowing them to be paired with garden verbenas, lobelias in unusual blues, black or purple-leaved ipomeas (Ipomoea Illusion Midnight Lace, Ipomoea Sweet Heart Purple). Compose magnificent pots and hanging baskets by combining them with white or red varieties, Million Bells, variegated periwinkles, Dichondra Silver Falls, violets, calibrachoas, or bacopas.
