Reported by phone that it was very small (I can send a photo if necessary), a tiny piece of wood with 3 or 4 mini-mini leaves that seemed to want to open. After a week, despite all the care provided, it died. I urgently request a refund. The first order in 2018 was disappointing, and so was the one in 2019, so there will not be a third one.

Description

The scented Pelargonium 'Concolour Lace - Red of England', also known as 'Shottesham Pet', is a variety of scented geranium adorned with a lovely cut and velvety foliage that emits a subtle almond scent when crushed. Its delicious fragrance is accompanied by small delicate flowers in a unique dark pink to red colour, which earned it its name. Its bushy and compact habit makes it particularly suitable for hanging baskets and flower pots.

The Pelargonium 'Concolour Lace' belongs to the geranium family. It is derived, among others, from a botanical species called Pelargonium graveolens, native to mountainous areas in the far northeast and southwest of South Africa, often growing in moist ravines. 'Concolour Lace' forms a perennial bush with a compact and slightly pyramidal habit, with thin and hairy stems. The plant quickly reaches 30 to 50 cm (12 to 20in) in all directions. Its highly ornamental foliage consists of rounded leaves, divided into 3 to 5 lobes, deeply divided and toothed, velvety, measuring 4 to 8 cm (2 to 3in) wide, in a light green to almond green shade. When crushed, they release a sweet and spicy scent that some compare to almonds, while others describe it as a mix of walnuts and mint. Flowering occurs from June to October, in the form of small umbels of tiny flowers in a bright pink-red colour, veined with red, measuring 15 mm (1in), light and spectacular in their vividness, more authentic than those of hybrids selected for their flowering.

Pelargonium 'Concolor Lace' is appreciated for both its fragrant foliage and its beautiful flowering. Therefore, plant it in a pot or in the ground, in a place where you can touch it, along a path or in a pot on the terrace or veranda. Scented geraniums are precious for perfuming a room, where they delight us with their sometimes unexpected and wonderful scents. We once came to a halt, the day after rain, in front of a bed of scented geraniums and spent a long time immersing ourselves in a little symphony of delicate fragrances. In mild climates, protected from frost, it is a plant that requires very little maintenance, making it valuable for coastal gardens.

Try adding the scent of scented pelargonium flowers to a recipe, it works! The edible leaves are used in fruit salads and potpourri.

Note: Attention, our plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being placed outdoors once the risk of frost is definitively eliminated.

Planting and care

Plant your seedlings in the open ground after the last frosts, in a sunny position. You can also plant them in pots in a sheltered location, which you can then take outdoors in May. If you plant them in the open ground, wait until the frosts have passed. Fragrant geraniums require well-drained soil, but not necessarily very rich soil. Water moderately. In pots, regular watering is necessary in summer. You can protect your geraniums by bringing them indoors, under a veranda or in a cold greenhouse or unheated bright room in winter. They can tolerate a light frost, but they will not survive the winter in the garden.
