Description

The Zonal Geranium Flower Fairy Velvet is a recent pelargonium with a very early flowering, featuring strong stems carrying very velvety magenta or amaranth red flowers, edged in pink and highlighted with an equally pink eye. Its compact and rather upright habit is accompanied by lovely round and bright green leaves. Blooming from spring to autumn, it forms small round bushes. Ideal for small gardens, hanging baskets, and containers.

The Flower Fairy Velvet geranium forms a bushy clump with a fairly compact and upright habit, of medium development, at least 40 cm in all directions. It blooms from spring to autumn, displaying large two-tone flat flowers, velvety in texture and medium in size, with wide petals. They renew endlessly on round and bright green foliage. Its strong and succulent stems bear circular, undulating leaves with toothed edges and thick texture, very healthy.

Once reserved for balconies and terraces, pelargoniums are making a very noticeable entrance into sunny flower beds and borders. Plant them in mass to create a lasting and cheerful display throughout the beautiful season. These plants tolerate water shortage quite well, allowing them to be combined with garden verbenas, lobelias in amazing blues, morning glories with black or purple foliage (Ipomoea Illusion Midnight Lace, Ipomoea Sweet Heart Purple). Create magnificent pots and hanging baskets by combining them with bright pink or red varieties, Million Bells, variegated periwinkles, Silver Falls Dichondra, violets, calibrachoas.

Note: Please note that our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, pot them up and store them under cover (conservatory, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C for a few weeks before placing them outdoors once the risk of frost is definitively gone.

Planting and care

Zonal geraniums thrive in fertile, well-drained, neutral to alkaline soils, well loosened and in full sun. Geraniums are hungry plants, requiring regular fertiliser inputs to give the best of themselves.

You can plant pelargoniums from March-April in mild climate regions, but they should be brought indoors in case of frost. To avoid risks, wait until the end of frost before placing them outside, usually around May in the North. When planting in pots or containers, use special geranium compost.

In the garden, wait until late April or even mid-May in the northernmost regions to plant them in the ground and provide a special geranium culture support to your soil.
