Description

The Viola wittrockiana 'F1 Raviola Pure Lemon' is a hybrid pansy with large flowers of a very pure and fresh lemon yellow colour. The plants are compact, very floriferous, cold and disease resistant. An easy variety to mix in a container, particularly beautiful alongside forget-me-nots or blue pansies, they bring brightness to the garden when it needs it most. Easy to grow in humus-rich and moist soil, in sun or partial shade.

Garden pansies, sometimes called Swiss giant pansies, are actually hybrids grouped together in the Viola x wittrockiana group. They belong to the violet family and are most often grown as annuals or biennials, although they are theoretically short-lived perennials. The 'F1 Raviola Pure Lemon' variety is a ramified plant that forms compact clumps, 15 to 20 cm (7.9 in) tall and 15 cm (5.9 in) wide. Flowering occurs early, from October to the end of spring. The large, open flowers, slightly fragrant, display a light and uniform yellow colour, matched with a tiny bright yellow heart. The medium green leaves are elliptical and widely crenate.

If you love seeing them then it is in containers on the windowsill - to have in view while keeping warm - that they will be most appreciated. You can associate them with primroses, wallflowers, Grape Hyacinths, Daisies... and even with grasses like Japanese Sedge for a graphic contemporary effect.

The petals of pansies are edible - their colours will bring a touch of originality to your salads and pastries. Think about growing them as you would your vegetables, in the most natural way possible.

Note: Attention, our young mini plug plants are professional products designed for experienced gardeners. As soon as you receive them, transplant them as soon as possible into pots, containers or directly in the ground.

Planting and care

Very floriferous and fast-growing, 'Raviola Pure Lemon' pansies are hungry and appreciate a sunny or partially shaded site. They thrive in humus-bearing, neutral to acidic, moist and fertile soil. Feed them with liquid fertiliser for containers once or twice a week during the growing period. Water regularly but not excessively. Regularly remove faded flowers to promote new blooms.
