Clematis integrifolia Miranda Floclemi - Solitary virgin's-bower

Clematis integrifolia 'Miranda' is a climbing perennial plant with good vigour and a generous and colourful flowering throughout summer. Its large star-shaped flowers boast a deep blue-violet shade, with a bunch of almost white stamens that create a pleasant contrast. The genus Clematis belongs to the Ranunculaceae family. Clematis integrifolia 'Miranda' is a British horticultural hybrid dating back to 1994, and is a sister to 'Arabella'. It is a climbing perennial plant with long leafy stems that can reach a height of 2m (7ft) and occupy 1m² (3ft²). Every spring, a multitude of stems emerge directly from its base. They bear small, entire, oval to elliptical leaves with a slightly glossy green colour. The flowers bloom abundantly from June to September if the soil remains moist. They are star-shaped, in a dark blue-violet colour, composed of 4 to 6 leaf-shaped petals. They are 10cm (4in) wide and show very clear stamens in their throat. The flowering is followed by the formation of feathery and silvery fruits, which are highly decorative at the end of the season. The above-ground, deciduous vegetation completely dries out in winter.
