Bien emballé, livraison dans les temps. mais au déballage, racines coupées bien trop court, pas de chevelu ! Quelle déception ! Quel massacre !

The Sanguine d'Auvergne Blood Nectarine tree is a self-fertile variety with an excellent yield. Its nectarines have red-purple flesh veined with white. These are beautiful firm, cardinal red streaked fruits. Their flesh has a sweet, slightly acidic flavour, with a very good taste quality. Description

Nectarine Sanguine d'Auvergne is a self-fertile variety that provides an excellent yield. Its nectarines have purple-red flesh veined with white. These are beautiful firm, cardinal red striped fruits. Their flesh has a sweet, slightly acidic flavour and is of very good quality. Harvest can begin as soon as they are ripe in August, but can easily spread over several weeks as the fruits remain firm. This variety is highly resistant to peach leaf curl.

The species name "persica" was given to the peach, which was thought to originate from Persia. In reality, all cultivated forms originate from northern China. The Nectarine is a natural mutation of the peach that is believed to have occurred in the 16th century. The Sanguine d'Auvergne nectarine is a creation by Georges Delbard.

Like many fruit trees, the Sanguine d'Auvergne nectarine likes light, rich, and deep soils. It does not tolerate excessive water or heavy, compact soils. It is a vigorous tree. Its semi-erect habit is formed of a tall trunk tree with many vertically growing branches, giving it an elegant appearance. Its deciduous foliage is a vibrant green and has a slight almond scent. Its leaves are long, 8 to 15 cm (3 to 6in) by 3 to 4 cm (1 to 2in) wide, with short petioles and it has pink blossom in pink in March-April. This means that if you grow it in the north, it should be planted in a sunny, sheltered location. The flowers are hermaphroditic and self-fertile.
The nectarines are large cardinal red fruits with stripes, ready to be harvested from August onwards. Because they remain firm, the harvest can be spread over several weeks. This tree does not require too much maintenance. It tolerates severe pruning, but not every year.

Nectarines can be enjoyed raw, cooked, sweet, savoury, flambéed or frozen. They pair very well with wine and certain meats, such as duck. They can be found in numerous recipes, particularly for jams, compotes, pastries,...

For transportation reasons, our tallest scions may be pruned before shipping. They are suitable for all common training forms: cordons, espaliers, goblets, half-standards, and low standards, but not high standards. If you would like more information or advice on training your fruit trees, please do not hesitate to contact us.

This fruit tree is delivered in a "ready-to-plant" root ball. The root ball should be planted as it is. The biodegradable covering that surrounds the root ball and preserves the rootlets will decompose naturally as the plant grows and leaving it in places will help establishment.

Planting and care

The Sanguine d'Auvergne nectarine tree is best planted from September to November. Dig a hole two to three weeks before planting, twice as wide and deep as the pot. On the day of planting, place the tree with its pot in water, to wet the entire root ball. Add compost to the bottom of the hole. Place the tree in the hole and fill it with a mixture of soil and compost. Gently firm around the base of the tree as you fill, ensuring that the roots are in close contact with the soil. The root ball should be completely covered. Water generously.

The Sanguine d'Auvergne nectarine tree has a semi-pivoting root system. It will thrive in fairly deep soils. It also prefers light and well-draining soil.

Pruning instructions In the spring following planting, Prune for training. Keep only the branches that will form the tree's framework (about 5 branches). Fruits appear on one-year-old branches and wood that has already borne fruit will not do so again. For fruiting pruning, prune the branches that have already fruited to 2 buds above the future branching. Remove the inward-crossing branches and shorten the longest outward-facing ones that to maintain a harmonious shape.
Pruning Pruning recommended once a year
Pruning time January to February, December
Soil moisture Tolerant
Disease resistance Good
Overwinter Can be left in the ground
