Description
An amazing genus due to the disproportion between a tiny species, barely exceeding 1cm (0.4 in) in height, and one of the largest herbaceous plants in the world, and the very particular flowering they have in common. If we add to that the fact that some of them live more or less in symbiosis with an algae and that the presence of insects is essential to ensure the germination of the seeds of some others, once again, we have a glimpse of the immeasurable diversity of life.
A creeping plant, spreading through its stolons to form a good ground cover in moist soil, near a stream for example. The small round, shiny leaves are a miniature reproduction of those of G. manicata. The insignificant small flower spikes, resemble that of a plantain gone wrong.

Planting and care
In mild regions the foliage remains during winter, elsewhere it disappears. In a cold climate, protection using dead leaves will be necessary. Plant it near the stream, in peaty and moist soil, together with Trollius pumilus and dwarf willows (Salix herbacea - Salix retusa).
