Description

Everything is good in fennel: the foliage (sweet dill), the stems, and the seeds! In addition to its aniseed taste, fennel is decorative. Its vegetation, reaching a height of nearly 2m (7ft), is very decorative due to the extreme delicacy of its cut foliage. The tiny yellow flowers with 5 petals are grouped in umbels of 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6in), in August and September. The fruit, highly fragrant, is ovoid and grooved.

A beautiful and reliable plant as it gets! It will be particularly appreciated in the background of a slightly "messy" flower bed, in the spirit of a herb garden. This plant is the wild form of fennel, it does not form a "bulb".

Planting and care

Plant your Foeniculum in a sunny position, in a rather moist and well-drained soil. The fennel is a Mediterranean plant that appreciates some humidity. Easy to grow, but be careful of its growth: under good growing conditions, it can reach a height of 2m (7ft). Cut the stems after flowering if you wish to prevent it from self-seeding naturally.
