Duo of White and Blue Platycodon

This duo of Platycodon grandiflorus 'Fuji Blue' and 'Fuji White' brings an original touch to the garden: the curious balloon-shaped flowers bloom in vibrant blue or pure white, depending on the variety. The flowering period is long, from June-July to September. These perennials thrive in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Sometimes slow to establish, they are frost-resistant down to -15 °C and make a great impact in border displays.

This duo consists of:

1 x Platycodon grandiflorus 'Fuji Blue': this variety stands out with its intensely blue flowers veined with violet, a remarkable colour under the sun. It can reach a height of 60 cm and its dark green foliage provides an excellent contrast with its flowers.

1 x Platycodon grandiflorus 'Fuji White': with white flowers, this variety is ideal for bringing serenity to the garden. It is slightly smaller than the blue version, with a maximum height of 50 cm.

Plant them in borders or between rocks in a rockery, in a generous pouch of compost. We recommend placing the slightly taller 'Fuji Blue' variety at the back of 'Fuji White'. These plants also grow very well in a deep pot to accommodate their impressive root system, with good drainage and regular watering. Their large flowers are also beautiful in wildflower bouquets. In the ground, we advise planting 5 to 6 plants per square meter, with a spacing of at least 30 cm between each plant for optimal growth.

The Platycodon grandiflorus 'Fuji Blue' combines well with the 'Hidcote' lavender with its violet flowers. The 'David' Phlox paniculata, with its white flowers, is an excellent companion for the 'Fuji White' Platycodon. Add to this little scene a medium-sized grass like the 'Hameln' Chinese fountain grass, which will bring a touch of lightness and motion to the whole.
