Description

The Agastache foeniculum 'Golden Jubilee' is a perennial with bright and fragrant foliage. The golden yellow colour combined with the anise scent makes this variety unique and not yet widely spread in gardens. In summer, the long purple flowering perfectly complements these beautiful lanceolate toothed leaves reminiscent of nettle leaves.

In addition to its ornamental aspect, Agastache foeniculum can be used as an aromatic or seasoning plant to flavour dishes and teas or decorate salads, as its taste is both aniseed and minty. Very melliferous, its bristly terminal spikes of tubular flowers attract bees and butterflies to the heart of the garden. Plant one or two in the middle of the vegetable garden, as the beneficial insects they attract will ensure the pollination of many fruits and vegetables. Use the infused leaves abundantly and you will be even more tranquil!

Known to be less hardy, Agastache foeniculum is often grown as an annual but can live for several years in fairly dry soils where water does not stagnate in winter. In the southern part of Erupe, it is grown in rockeries or on slopes of a well-drained bank protected from west rains. Agastache foeniculum ‘Golden Jubilee’ likes porous soils, even poor ones, very well-drained and full sun. In hot regions, it should not lack water at the beginning of flowering. You can also grow it in a pot and store it in a conservatory during winter.

In a flower bed, you can associate it with perennials that accept the same growing conditions such as Thermopsis, Galega, lavender, rosemary or yarrow. It will also blend well with bronze fennel in a grass garden, in the driest soil possible. Wait until spring to plant it in humid regions.
