Chamomile received in late spring, planted immediately and it managed to survive on its own. It is a very hardy plant (no watering this summer 2023) that has nevertheless spread quickly in the sun. And this autumn, during pruning, I planted a few cuttings directly into the soil without any further precautions. These cuttings already seem to be taking root! Perfect for a dry and flower-filled garden!

Description

Anthemis tinctoria 'Sauce Hollandaise' is a beautiful, floriferous, perennial chamomile with solitary butter yellow flowers throughout summer.

Nicknamed "Bull's Eye", this hardy and reliable perennial reaches a height of 50cm (20in) and forms a bushy clump. The dark green deciduous leaves are lanceolate, composed of narrow and toothed leaflets, and are carried by branched stems. The solitary flower heads appear from June to September and measure 3cm (1in). The ligules are light-yellow turning creamy-white around a yellow centre. It is used in dyeing, hence its name of Dyer's Chamomile.

Anthemis tinctoria 'Sauce Hollandaise' prefers poor, well-drained soil, that is not too wet. It tolerates limestone. It prefers a place in full sun. It should be cut back to ground level after flowering to ensure good re-flowering. It is sensitive to cold and humid winters.

Anthemis tinctoria 'Sauce Hollandaise' is used in mixed borders with other varieties or in the company of digitalis and leucanthemums. It also holds well in a vase.
