Description

Perennials, highly valued in gardens, columbines require a light, humus-rich soil that does not lack moisture, where they colonise the ground with their spontaneous self seeding. They can tolerate heavy soils, but do not live there for very long. Some alpine varieties are difficult to cultivate.

A perennial that is close to A. canadensis, with flowers more notched and orange-red. Prefers soil rich in humus, that is moist to wet.
