Description

Perennial plants, highly valued in gardens, columbines require a light, humus-rich soil that is consistently moist, where they colonize the area with their spontaneous self seeding. They can tolerate heavy soils, but do not live for very long in them. Some alpine varieties are difficult to cultivate.
