Upon receipt, its condition was very uninviting. 6 months after being planted in a location where other vine-plants give me complete satisfaction, it has completely disappeared. Big disappointment.

Description

Arums are not yet widely used in European gardens despite being closely related. There are still many species of arums to be discovered, especially in Taiwan and China. While some are not hardy and require winter protection, many species are suitable for outdoor cultivation in most regions—all the arums we offer come with tuberous or tuberculate roots and go into winter dormancy.

The plants have beautifully cut leaves with a shiny green colour, carried by sturdy petioles with stripes. They produce late green flowers with very pale green stripes. The arums can reach a height of 1.5m (5ft)!

Planting and care

This plant thrives in a cool to humid climate and requires partial shade. It grows best in moist, humus-rich soil and can tolerate well-drained clay soils in winter. While it appreciates moisture in spring and summer, it fears it in winter. To protect it from the cold, it's recommended to leave dead leaves (20cm or 8in) on the base, providing the humus it loves. These plants are best suited for cooler climates where the soil and climate are conducive to their growth. They can be combined with ferns, Epimedium, Begonia grandis, rhododendrons, azaleas, Meconopsis, lilies, and more.
