Description

Asclepias incarnata is a hardy perennial that thrives in moist, rich, and light soil. It forms a robust, upright clump and produces small, bright pink star-shaped flowers with pure white stamens in early summer. The flowers are arranged in rounded false umbels and have a subtle vanilla fragrance. The plant can reach a height of 1 m (3 ft).

Formerly classified in the Asclepiadaceae family, Asclepias incarnata is now grouped in the Apocynaceae family. It is easy to grow and prefers warm and humid environments. In colder northerly regions, it can be grown in protected areas alongside phlox, yarrows, echinaceas, and Joe-Pye weeds.
