Slightly concerned because the leaves of the received specimen are green, like those of more 'ordinary' centauries; however, I had ordered this one for its grey colour. But we will wait until spring to find out more.

Description

Centaurea pulcherrima is a beautiful perennial with a regular and bushy habit. It bears variable leaves, which are sometimes entire and sometimes divided. They are covered with a grey fuzz, especially on the underside. It produces bright pink-mauve flowers with paler centres, carried in solitary heads.

Most of the species are found in a wide area of the Mediterranean. They all prefer light, even poor and limestone, soil, as well as full sun. Depending on their size or their tolerance to moist soil, they will find their place in rock gardens or perennial beds. The proposed varieties are all perennials and have a good longevity.
