Beautiful young plant, lovely flowering, but a bit disappointed as it is completely yellow in colour. So, a labeling issue.

Value-for-money
In summer, this small, compact coreopsis offers an abundance of small, bright yellow semi-double stars, with contrasting burgundy to brown centres, on a glossy, deep-green foliage. It will quickly become indispensable in a sunny bed or flower border. Undemanding and easy to grow in drained soil, this long-lived perennial is also remarkable in pots, or used as ground cover in difficult situations. Simply generous, contrasting and very cheerful!

Description

The Coreopsis lanceolata 'Sternlater' is a small perennial with lanceolate leaves that blooms for a long time and has a striking contrast. During the summer, it produces many bright yellow and semi-double stars with a burgundy to brown centre. The flowers cover its deep green and glossy foliage in July and August when many other plants have already faded. This plant is easy to grow in well-drained soil and doesn't require much maintenance. It is also very hardy and can be used as ground cover or in a container.

The Coreopsis lanceolata 'Sternlater', also called Tickseed, is derived from the species Coreopsis lanceolata, a tufted perennial that grows in the central and eastern regions of the United States. It's a reliable plant that can brighten up flower beds during summer. It has a compact tufted habit that measures 30 cm (12in) in all directions, allowing it to thrive in various locations. It flowers abundantly in July, August, and September, producing countless heads with numerous bright yellow ligules and red-brown centres that succeed each other tirelessly on the plant. It has deep green, lanceolate, narrow, and hairy leaves adorning its stems and base. The plant slowly spreads with the help of a tangle of slender, non-running rhizomes.

To ensure good flowering, perennial coreopsis plants require full sun exposure and well-drained, light, porous, gravelly, or sandy soil. They dislike winter moisture and heavy soils. The Coreopsis lanceolata 'Sternlater' is a versatile small perennial that can thrive in a rock garden, on a slope with wallflowers, love-in-a-mist, and wild flax, or in an herbaceous border alongside Teucrium chamaedrys or x lucidrys, thyme, and cotton lavender. It can also be paired with Calamintha glandulosa and Nepeta 'Dawn to dusk' for beautiful summer blooming, both in the ground and in a large pot with very little water. It can be picked for summer bouquets, adding a little sunshine to the house.

Planting and care

The Coreopsis lanceolata is a plant that needs specific soil and sunlight conditions to grow well. It requires well-drained, sandy or rocky soil and full sun exposure; otherwise, it will not thrive. To keep the plant healthy, it's a good idea to divide the clumps every 3 years and trim the foliage in September.

Perennial coreopsis plants are sensitive to winter moisture and heavy soils. To ensure they flower well, they need full sun exposure, even in hot weather. They prefer light, porous, gravelly or sandy soil that is well-drained, slightly acidic, neutral, chalky, or even poor. They can also grow well in fresh soil containing humus if the drainage is perfect. When grown under these conditions, they will live for a long time and produce many flowers.

To encourage re-blooming, it's best to remove faded flowers, especially at the end of August. This plant is easy to maintain and requires little attention.
