Description

The Coreopsis rosea 'American Dream' is a small perennial forming a well-erect low-growing bush covered with deep pink flowers with yellow centres in summer and autumn.

Originally from American prairies, this 30cm (12in) tall, compact, rhizomatous plant has opposite, lanceolate, finely divided leaves that are 4 to 7 cm (2 to 3in) long and medium green in colour. The flower heads are 2 cm (1in) in diameter, deep pink with yellow centres, and are borne at the end of long upright stems.

The Coreopsis rosea 'American Dream' is not demanding in terms of soil type, as long as it is well-drained and moist in non-scorching sunlight. For better autumn flowering, cut back all the flowers with shears in August.

The Coreopsis rosea 'American Dream' is used in borders, rock gardens, and flower beds along with Asters, Fleabanes, or Carnations.
