Description

Perennials or bulbs with light foliage and pretty bunches of flowers are used widely for their beauty. These species produce flowers in flared tubes, and they self-sow, sometimes in abundance, always in favourable locations. They grow in very dense and regular clumps that gradually spread. Their attractive, green, cut foliage adds to their appeal. The flowers have a subtle fragrance and range in colour from light purple to a beautiful dark gentian blue. They are a superb species! In warmer climates, the plant tends to go dormant in summer and start flowering again in autumn.
