Description

Francoa are perennial Andean plants growing on rocky terrains in steep low valleys, above the water. Their hardiness is not their strong point, but when planted in a well-drained, moist and humus-rich soil, in a partially shaded and sheltered position protected from cold winds, they have survived the last 10 winters in our garden. Their evergreen foliage does not allow for complete mulching of the stumps, but dry dead leaves inserted between the clumps provide them with sufficient protection.

Large rosette of raw green, fuzzy leaves from which emerge long flower stalks bearing very long spikes of pretty flowers - normally white in the species - which are a lovely bright pink in the form that we have.
