These plants are the result of various cross-breeding, mainly with H. orientalis and its subspecies. They have beautiful evergreen foliage, dark green and glossy, which is best cut back to ground level just at the end of winter, before the appearance of flowers and new leaves, in order to avoid black spot disease and maintain the plant's brightness. They adapt to any fresh soil, even clayey, preferably without limestone. The flowering period, which varies greatly from one region to another, spreads from February to April.
