More information

Four perennial plants with varied colours and textures to easily create a radiant autumn scene, which will remain decorative throughout the year. This composition brings together a long-flowering Nepeta, a caramel-leaved heuchera, a bronze-green fine-leaved Carex, and a small ivy. They should be repotted in a larger, wide container to adorn the balcony or terrace throughout the year. They can also be planted in the ground, in the sun or partial shade, in soil that is not too dry and stays moist.

Description

The Autumn Enchantment Composition is a combination of four perennial plants selected for their foliage, varied in texture and habit, as well as colour. They harmoniously blend together and remain attractive even in winter. All are easy to grow in pots or in the ground. While the composition is at its peak in autumn, it is also flowery in summer and leafy in winter. Already composed, this mix allows you to instantly, tastefully and durably enhance your terrace or garden.

The Full of Joy pot includes:

- 1 x Nepeta: airy perennials that emit a scent irresistible to cats

- 1 x Heuchera or coral bells with large dark caramel-coloured leaves with bronze and red highlights. This perennial plant has extremely light flower spikes adorned with tiny white-pink bells in summer. The foliage persists more or less in winter.

- 1 x Carex, a type of small, non-invasive perennial grass with long, slim green leaves tinged with bronze. It forms a small, luminous tuft that persists in winter.

- 1 x Hedera: a compact variety of ivy with small green, marbled leaves. This perennial plant produces long, spreading or trailing stems capable of rooting. The foliage persists in winter.

Cultivated in the same pot, these perennial plants get along well. They should be repotted in a larger container, such as a wide basin, to showcase them on the balcony or terrace. This composition can also be planted in the ground, in a sunny or partially shaded area, in well-drained, rich, and fairly moist soil.

Planting and care

Plant your Autumn Enchantment Composition in spring or early autumn, in a large container, such as a basin, to allow the plants to fully reach their potential. Use rich and light soil and water regularly. Apply universal fertilizer in spring. Choose a sunny to partially shaded exposure. The arrangement can withstand winter outdoors, as all the plants are hardy.

In the ground: if your soil is heavy, mix some compost and sand in, place your collection so that the top of the root ball is covered with 2-3 cm (1in) of soil. A base fertilizer will nourish your plants during the rooting period without the risk of burning. Firm the soil and water generously to eliminate air pockets. If the weather is dry, you will need to water regularly for a few weeks to aid establishment. Afterwards, water your plants regularly (especially the lysimachia) if it becomes very dry. We recommend pruning dry leaves and stems in February-March.
