Description

Inula magnifica is an imposing perennial forming tall stems with large golden yellow daisy flowers with orange centres.

Very vigorous, forming a huge basal rosette composed of large ovate leaves, reaching 80cm (32in) long, rough, dark green on top, light green underneath.

The fairly loose, branched flower stalks bear large daisy flowers with narrow ligulate petals, light golden yellow with orange centres, blooming from June to August. Variable in size, the stalks measure from 1m (3ft) to 1.8m (6ft) depending on the exposure and nature of the soil.

Inula magnifica is imposing when grown in a bright exposure, without direct sunlight, in a very rich and moist, even damp soil when it is in bloom.

Plant it at the back of a flower bed, on the banks of a pond (but not with its feet in water) in a garden with exotic features, in a large mixed border or as a standalone plant. It pairs well with knotweeds, hostas, meadowsweets, royal ferns, and ligularias.
