Well-conditioned young plant. It's a shame it wasn't named.

Description

Iris pseudacorus 'Crème de la Crème' is a beautiful variety of marsh iris with very bright cream-white flowers delicately edged in violet and spotted with pale yellow. It is a robust perennial of waterlogged areas that can be used to stabilize the banks of water points, but also partially submerged, for its purifying properties.

The 'Crème de la Crème' marsh iris is a rhizomatous perennial plant of the iridaceae family. Its ancestor, Iris pseudacorus, also known as yellow iris or yellow flag, is widespread in marshes, ditches, and very wet areas of Europe, North Africa, and the Near East. From spring onwards, the plant forms a large tuft of narrow, linear, upright leaves measuring 50 to 60 cm (20 to 24in) high. Each sword-shaped leaf is 1 to 3 cm (0 to 1in) wide, sheathing at the base and arranged in 2 opposite ranks. Flowering occurs from May to July depending on the climate. From the tuft of leaves cylindrical floral stems 90 cm (35in) tall emerge, bearing 2 or 3 flowers. Each flower is composed of 3 large drooping sepals surrounding 3 narrow, upright petals and 3 large petaloid stigma crests. The foliage persists in winter.

Iris pseudacorus 'Crème de la Crème' is a hardy and adaptable perennial. It thrives in a semi-aquatic environment, on a bank or in a wet ditch, with the rhizome planted in soggy mud. In the sun, you can associate it with other marsh irises, reeds, cattails, willowherbs, and other bank plants.
