Beautiful young plants that have adapted well to the climate and haven't attracted any pests! They are spreading nicely, and I'm looking forward to the flowering without any worries.

Description
Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' has a sumptuous foliage colour. The numerous small semi-evergreen leaves are a very light silver-white and marginated with green. They produce a bright effect that is highly appreciated in the undergrowth. Dotted with almost magenta-pink flowers from May to August, this perennial ground cover appreciates shaded or semi-shaded situations and thrives in moist, rich, and light soils.
"Maculatum" means "spot" in Latin. Lamium maculatum is therefore also called spotted or variegated deadnettle. Indeed, they all bear bi-coloured foliage. It consists of numerous small leaves, 2 to 3 cm (1in) long, which are semi-evergreen in some climates. They are heart-shaped, toothed, embossed, and form a complete carpet, covering the stems that bear them. These stems are long and prostrate, but slightly raised at their ends and spread in all directions. They host small flowers (2cm (1in)) with a calyx with hairy teeth that surrounds the corolla tube. It extends into two lips: one finely hairy upper lip, and another lower lip. Their silhouette is reminiscent of nettle flowers. The name "Lamium" actually comes from Greek and referes to a throat or a gaping mouth.
Deadnettles always make charming ground covers. They require no maintenance (except if the foliage has dried up) and are perfect at the foot of a bush. The variety of colours, their reasonable and manageable growth (20cm (8in) tall and a maximum spread of 100cm (39in)) means they can be integrated at the front of flower beds, in ribbons or with small touches, thus varying the foliage. Plant them in front of perennial heucheras or geraniums.
The vibrant flowering of Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' brightens up the undergrowth after spring bulbs have bloomed. It goes well with its shade companions: Helleborus orientalis guttatus Pink, Heuchera 'Fire Chief' and H. 'Prince of Silver', and Saxifrage 'Black Ruby', thus creating a nice contrast of foliage and a harmony of pinks. Plant it in a semi-shaded rockery or at the foot of a wall. It fits among creeping perennials and brings touches of brightness to sometimes forgotten corners.

Planting and care
Plant Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' in spring or autumn. Choose a shaded or semi-shaded location and avoid scorching sun.
It prefers substrates that are moist, rich, and humus-rich, but not waterlogged.
Its rhizomatous stump is not invasive; its stems colonise space. You can therefore prune them if you wish to limit their growth.
An occasional pruning is necessary if some leaves have dried up.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
