Description

From the stump, thick stems arise, upright and unbranched, bearing stiff linear and lanceolate leaves, horizontally arranged on the increasingly smaller stems towards the top.  These are medium green, transforming into a beautiful light orange-pink in autumn. The light violet flowers appear in the axils of the leaves in the upper part of the stems.

Planting and care

It is certainly the hardiest and most robust species of all. In our garden, it is magnificent, very tall, stands upright without support, blooms for a long time, and forms a large group of several square meters in heavy clay and moist soil at the edge of the stream, alongside Persicaria, Lythrum salicaria, Vernonia... .  This plant grows in sun and partial shade.
