Three young plants arrived quickly and well packaged. Immediately replanted in a corner of the garden where it gets very hot and dry in the summer. For now, they have benefited from the recent rains and are in great shape.

Description

Common Oregano or Origanum vulgare 'Compactum' is an excellent ground cover with a very dense and compact habit and aromatic leaves that evoke the scent of Provence.

Also known as Marjoram, Common Oregano develops pretty oval-shaped leaves that are 2 to 4cm (1 to 2in) long, deciduous, dark green, and rounded. They appear from the end of frost until the next frost. In June, small pink flowers form globular spikes that are 3-5cm (1-2in) in diameter. Its semi-erect habit is ideal for covering dry and sunny areas in a rock garden.

Common Oregano is hardy and grows without any maintenance. It thrives in all dry soils in full sun. It can also be grown in pots using a mix of potting soil and garden soil, with moderate watering.

In the morning, harvest Oregano leaves as soon as flowering begins to use them fresh or dried in soups, sauces, marinated meats, pizzas, and liqueurs. Oregano has medicinal properties, being antispasmodic, expectorant, antiseptic, and stress-relieving.
