Description

Potentilla 'Hopwoodiana' is a beautiful creeping shrub with strawberry-like foliage that blooms generously from June to September bearing pale pink flowers with a cream centre and red heart.

Known in the mid-19th century, this potentilla has deciduous, lobed, and heavily veined foliage similar to strawberry leaves. As a hybrid, it has double flowers with heart-shaped petals of a pale pink colour with a cream centre and red heart, inherited from the Nepalese potentilla, and a tall floral stem inherited from Potentilla recta. With fast growth, it can reach a height of 30 cm (12 in) and a width of 50 cm (20 in) in 3 years and has the particularity of self-seeding.

Hardy and very resistant, Potentilla 'Hopwoodiana' grows in permeable, fresh, not overly chalky, and well-drained soil, preferably in full sun. It is quite resistant to diseases.

Potentilla 'Hopwoodiana' is ideal in a rock garden, on a slope, or in a flower bed along with pink lupins or yarrow.
