I received 2 buckets of 8/9 cm that I replanted in a 15 cm pot before planting them. They have grown well, with beautiful large leaves when I put them in the ground. Unfortunately, they became a feast for slugs and snails. I had even used slug repellent that protects hedgehogs and others, but after 3 days, all the beautiful leaves were devoured. I don't think I'll see them again next year. It's a shame, they had started so well. I give up, even though I really like them.

Description

Phlomis tuberosa 'Amazone' is both simple and modern. It is simple because its dark green foliage, with deeply toothed edges, closely resembles that of wild salvias and lamiums. It is modern because its pink-purple spike-like flowers are densely clustered in whorls, creating a remarkable architectural effect in borders.

Phlomis tuberosa belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It is related to salvias and lavenders. This robust herbaceous perennial plant is native to southeastern Europe, Turkey, and Iran. The genus consists of shrubs and herbaceous plants that often thrive in sunny meadows or hillsides, in poor and well-drained soils.

Originating from the steppes of Russia to the Caucasus Mountains, Phlomis tuberosa 'Amazone' is a hardy plant in our gardens. It thrives in sunny locations and prefers moist, deep, rich, and well-drained soil.

It is highly versatile and can be used in a wild border alongside columbines, euphorbias, and grasses, or in a more structured border with ornamental garlic, catmints, and speedwells.
